According to folklore, it took its name from the Virgin Mary, who left her cloak on the bush. By the next morning, the flowers of the bush had turned blue and have since been named rose of Mary.
Rosemary is a perennial evergreen shrub that reaches up to one and a half meters in height and blooms in warm, dry climates.
It has got several pharmaceutical characteristics such as warming, stimulates blood circulation to the brain and improves concentration and memory. It is considered antibacterial, antifungal and anti-rheumatic, tonic for the heart and eyesight but also for diabetes.
Rosemary gives its characteristic aroma to fish and boiled vegetables but also to meat with a strong taste, such as lamb.
